Review Site
Review Sites are a popular way to promote your affiliate product and can either be free or paid. If you create the entire site on your own then this can be a free method.
However you may wish to pay for a professional template, content to be written for you, others to do the SEO or pay for traffic to your site.
There are two types of review sites—comparison sites or sites that are dedicated to review a specific product or service.
Let’s take a closer look at comparison sites first…
Comparison Site
An example of a comparison site would be FusionHQ alongside three or four other competitors.
Here you would make an honest review about the different products available, the pros and cons of each product and the price-points.
To make it easy to see at a glance charts are often used to show if certain features are present or not by ticks and crosses.
The advantage of a comparison site is that you will make commissions regardless (provided you are an affiliate for everything you recommend).
This increases your probability to make a commission because whatever your prospects decide you get paid whatever they decide.
Dedicated Product Site
These are sites where there is a specific review for the product or service you are an affiliate for.
In the example of FusionHQ a site would only promote FusionHQ and no other competitors.
There are many sites that talk about FusionHQ yet few devote themselves to it (including using the software name in the URL).
These types of sites are found by people who already know about you. They are actively searching for you and will find a dedicated product site though Google. (If there is little competition these sites can be very easy to get ranked and can convert leads very well.)
Because prospects are out there seeking information on a particular product or service, the sites you make only need a few basic elements to make them effective.
To ensure this method works you will need a basic website structure, basic SEO and a few pages of high quality content.
Explain what the product is, how the features can help and why prospects need this product.
To make your site convert well be sure to include some of the negative aspects of the product you are reviewing.
These negative elements should not be anything that would put someone off completely, but enough to show it is an honest review… and not just a sales pitch. You can also include screen captures or videos which demonstrate that product or service in action.
Think of the power of infomercials...
Seeing how the latest wonder knife cuts vegetables is much more powerful when you see it in action rather than just hearing about it or seeing a boring list of tech specs.
