Lead Capture

List building is not hard or difficult.

It’s likely you know what to do already but have yet to put these simple strategies into action. These are the four fundamentals to lead capture…

Squeeze Page

The purpose of a squeeze page is to get prospects to enter their name and email address.
There is little content on this page…

Simply an engaging headline, bullet points of why they should sign up, perhaps a graphic (image) of what they’ll receive when they sign up.

(Testimonials are optional and can increase opt-in rates if used correctly.)

Some squeeze pages have a video on the page giving (or promising) great content.  And in order for prospects to watch the next video they must enter their name and email address to be taken to the next.

Email Optin

Have an email optin on most pages of your site.  But don’t fall into the common trap of simply saying “subscribe to my newsletter”.

It’s better to use an ethical bribe such as “sign up to receive your free report on how to… plus receive a free newsletter series”.

In this way prospects will sign up to receive your bribe.  This ensures a significantly higher opt in rate.

Exit Splash

This is where someone hits the close button on a web page and a box pops up.

Usually it will say something like, “Wait, before you go make sure you enter your name and email address so we can send you a free video on how to…” or something similar.

Sometimes prospects need to be reminded to sign up and catching them before they leave is a great way to do this.

Pop Over

Mark has found a delayed popover (20 or 25 seconds after they’ve arrived) converts better than a popover that appears as soon as they land on your site.

Your popover should ask for their name and email address in return for receiving your free report or whichever giveaway you’ve decided to use as your ethical bribe.
